Jem- Letter Writing
As the oldest and wisest of the Finch children, Jem is arguable most affected by the injustice and tragic violence that take place in To Kill A Mockingbird. The presence of good and evil in life is an issue that Jem struggles to understand while retaining a sense of right and wrong. Consider how Jem is affected by the following:
- How Jem is affected by Atticus’s presence
- Tom Robinson’s verdict and subsequent actions
- Bob Ewell's final interaction with Jem and Scout
- Boo Radley's response to the threat against Jem and Scout
- Heck Tate’s response to Boo’s actions
For this assignment you will be writing as an adult version of Jem. You can write about any topic related to events from the book but your language, word choice, and tone should be age appropriate. Your task is to communicate how the actions that took place in the story would have shaped who Jem becomes as an adult.
